Lyn Bostock

Foundation Governor & Chairman

Glynn Edwards

Foundation Governor and Vice Chair

Penny Price

Headteacher Governor
I have lived in Carterton since 1992 when my husband was posted to RAF Brize Norton. My three children having attended primary school in Carterton have now moved away to university and employment. I work at Brize Norton Primary School as a higher level teaching assistant. I am a Foundation Governor and was previously privileged to have been a Shadow and Temporary Governor since 1996 while the school was being planned and built. I have seen the school grow from the plans on paper, witnessing the first turf being cut and growing to the well-established school community that we are all proud of today. I have been the Chair of Governors since September 2007 with the responsibility of leading the Governing Body in support of the Head teacher and staff in a strategic role of the management and development of the school. I am the link governor for Religious Education.

My wife and I have lived in Carterton since 1972, teaching full-time in
local schools for 29 years and latterly as supply teacher.  I am the
Oxfordshire Executive member for the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, also serving on various O.C.C. and national teachers' committees.
My association with St.John's primary school started as a shadow governor
during the latter planning stages through the build phase. I have recently been re-appointed to the full governing body. As a secondary teacher, I have always had a great admiration for the work of primary schools which give a solid foundation to their pupils and hope I can help in this task.

Foundation Governor

I became a Foundation Governor at St John the Evangelist Primary School in April 2004. My husband and I moved to Carterton in 2000 and we are members of the Methodist Church . I spent over 30 years teaching infants in the East End of London , and I know how essential it is for children to receive a professionally sound education in their early years at school. I enjoy listening to the children read at school every. My Governor area of responsibility is Special Educational Needs and Healthy Schools .
I have been a Foundation Governor for 3 years and have lived in Carterton since 1965 when I was posted here while in the RAF.  I am also a Church Warden of the local Church of England Church, St John’s.  I am married with one child who attends St John’s school, as well as being the school caretaker.

Foundation  Governor

Peter Madden

Local Education Authority

Jane Kearvell

Staff Governor
I originally come from a farming background; however, after a career change I joined the RAF, and was posted to RAF Brize Norton in 2000. I moved to Shilton Park with my wife and family in 2001. I started as a Parent Governor in 2005, and recently became a Foundation Governor where one of my tasks is to chair the Strategic and Finance committee.
My youngest daughter started at St John’s in 2004 and my son has just moved into the reception class. I’ve watched the school being built from the foundations up, and have been involved in the planning and building of the additional classrooms in 2008.  I am very proud of how the school community has grown and developed since it’s beginning, and I look forward to continuing involvement with the school as it continues to progress.

I have lived in Carterton since 1970. I am a former R.A.F. Aircrew Officer. I am married with three daughters and five grandchildren. I have been a County Council District Councillor and have served for fifteen years on Carterton Town Council. I have been Mayor twice. I am also a Governor at Carterton Community College . I am link Governor for Science at St John’s .

I have lived in Carterton since moving here with my family in 1981 and attended the local secondary school, which is now known as Carterton Community College. After leaving school I worked in the insurance industry for thirteen years, becoming a registered broker. I left full time employment to have my son William, a Year 3 pupil at St John's, and then never returned due to the arrival of my daughter Annabelle, a Year 2 pupil.
My involvement with the school began as a volunteer coming in to hear my son's class read, as well as spending one morning a week with my daughter in the Nursery. My interest grew and ultimately resulted in my taking an Open College Network course to prepare me for a job as a Teaching Assistant. I am now very fortunate to be part of St John's staff team as a Teaching Assistant in Year 5.
I became a Staff Governor in May 2005, with special responsibility for Child Protection and hope that my long term knowledge of the local community, parenthood and role within the school will add to my effectiveness as a Governor.

Bruce Barrett

Parent Governor

I was born in Oxfordshire and grew up in the village of Cumnor.
In 2004 I moved to Shilton Park with my wife and young son. I worked as an insurance broker for a local insurance company in Oxford city center for 7 years and took the opportunity to move to the branch in Carterton in 2005.
My involvement in the school began when my oldest son started at Cherry Nursery in January 2008. I wanted to become even more involved when he moved into foundation class and was elected as a  school governors in autumn 2008.
My son is very happy and settled at the school and I wanted to give something back. I want to be part of the school's development and help it stay as an outstanding place to learn for the current and future children of Carterton.
