I have lived in Carterton since 1992 when my husband was posted
to RAF Brize Norton. My three children having attended primary
school in Carterton have now moved away to university and
employment. I work at Brize Norton Primary School as a teaching
assistant. I am a Foundation Governor and was previously privileged
to have been a Shadow and Temporary Governor while the school was
being planned and built. Therefore I have seen the school grow from
the plans on paper, witnessing the first turf being cut and growing
to the well-established school community that we are all proud of
today. My governor responsibilities include Chair of Governors
(leading the Governing Body in support of the Head teacher and staff
in a strategic role of the management and development of the school)
and link governor for Religious Education and the Foundation Stage.
|
My wife and I have lived in Carterton since 1972, teaching full-time in
local schools for 29 years and latterly as supply teacher. I am the
Oxfordshire Executive member for the Association of Teachers and Lecturers,
also serving on various O.C.C. and national teachers' committees.
My association with St.John's primary school started as a shadow governor
during the latter planning stages through the build phase. I have recently
been re-appointed to the full governing body. As a secondary teacher, I have
always had a great admiration for the work of primary schools which give a
solid foundation to their pupils and hope I can help in this task.

I have been headteacher at
St John’s
since the school opened in 2002. I have
previously been the headteacher of two schools before I worked as an
LEA inspector. I missed the direct work with children so was
delighted to have an opportunity to work with new Governors and
staff to develop
St John’s
School
. My role is to advise and report to the
Governing Body about the overall development of the school. I live
locally to Carterton and I am enjoying seeing
Shilton
Park
grow and develop.

I have lived in Carterton since 2001 when I
left the RAF to start a family. I now have Serge in Reception,
Edward who is yet to start school and baby number three should be
here by Christmas.
As a self employed reflexologist, I have
developed links with the local community and my social circle with
my younger son has helped me to make friends with many parents at
St John’s
.
My chosen area of responsibility within
curriculum is Physical Education. I have a great interest in helping
the school’s co-ordinator to maintain high standards in lessons,
meeting targets for key priorities and creating a good reputation
for competitive sports.
I also enjoy being involved in the School
Association and fund-raising events both for
St John’s
and the wider community.
|
I became a Foundation Governor at St John the
Evangelist Primary School in April 2004. My husband and I moved to
Carterton in 2000 and we are members of the
Methodist
Church
. I spent over 30 years teaching infants in the
East End
of
London
, and I know how essential it is for children to
receive a professionally sound education in their early years at
school. I enjoy listening to the children read at school every. My
Governor area of responsibility is Special Educational Needs and
Healthy
Schools
.

I have lived in Carterton since 1972 and have
four grandchildren currently attending various local schools.
I am a retired teacher and examiner with experience at both
primary and secondary levels. Much of my career has been based in
Carterton, specialising in English and history. As a governor I take
a particular interest in these subjects. I also have long-term links
with St John’s Church and its PCC.
I am both a town councillor and the current Deputy Mayor. Being
involved in most aspects of civic life, often up to County level,
enables me to bring a further dimension to my role as school
governor.

involved in running a Fire Safety Company called Enliven Fire.

moved from this school to a local secondary school. We are a

patience of a Saint!

I have lived in Carterton since 1970. I am a
former R.A.F. Aircrew Officer. I am married with three daughters and
five grandchildren. I have been a County Council District Councillor
and have served for fifteen years on
Carterton

I have lived in Carterton since moving here with my family in 1981
and attended the local secondary school, which is now known as Carterton
Community College. After leaving school I worked in the insurance industry for
thirteen years, becoming a registered broker. I left full time employment to have my son William, a Year 3 pupil
at St John's, and then never returned due to the arrival of my daughter
Annabelle, a Year 2 pupil.
My involvement with the school began as a volunteer coming in to
hear my son's class read, as well as spending one morning a week with my
daughter in the Nursery. My interest grew and ultimately resulted in my
taking an Open College Network course to prepare me for a job as a Teaching
Assistant. I am now very fortunate to be part of St John's staff team as a
Teaching Assistant in Year 5.
I became a Staff Governor in May 2005, with special responsibility
for Child Protection and hope that my long term knowledge of the local
community, parenthood and role within the school will add to my effectiveness as a
Governor.

I joined the Royal Air Force 27 years ago as a Physical Training
Instructor. After 8 years, I became a Parachute Jumping Instructor
which involves teaching various parachuting skills to all 3
Services. Since the home of military parachuting is at RAF Brize
Norton I have lived in the area for 19 years and moved to Shilton
Park in April 2004. I have been married to Kirsty for 7 years and we
have a 5-year-old son Stanley, who started nursery at St John’s in
2005. I am a member of the Governors’ Management Committee and I
enjoy having the opportunity to be involved in the future
development of the School.

I originally come from a farming background; however, after a career change I joined the RAF, and was posted to RAF Brize Norton. I moved to Shilton Park with my wife and family in 2001, and I have watched the school being built from the foundations up. My youngest daughter started Nursery at St John’s in 2004.
I am on the Governors committee for Premises and have recently completed the IOSH course in Managing Safely, and I look forward to being part of the school’s future development.
