In Cedar class this term, we have been learning about World War 2.
We have brought in artefacts from home and talked with members of
our families about the war. Ellie brought in a gas mask used for a
baby during air raids, Ben bought in an adult sized gas mask and
several children brought in gas masks from the present day which we
were able to compare. Jasmine’s dad showed us his special protective
suit, used when police are faced with a chemical situation.
We visited STEAM in Swindon, and loved dressing up. We had a great
day, met some real life war veterans, took part in lots of role
play, sat in an air raid shelter and heard a real air raid siren. We
had our lunch and our guide said that she had never seen such tidy
tables! We would definitely recommend a visit, although the queues
in the shop were unbelievable!
We have just finished our Science Week, where we took part in
Science investigations every day. We learnt about light and shadow
and used our mathematical skills to record our findings.
