Communities of
Carterton & Brize Norton
Dr Phil Holmes
"The Communities of Brize Norton & Carterton" is a website created
specifically to bring together information to inform and serve the
local
community. Formed in 2003 and funded jointly by St John the
Evangelist Church in Carterton and St Britius Church in Brize
Norton,
its aim is to bring disparate information together. Amongst other
things the website hosts two primary school websites and the
Brize Norton Parish Newsletter, as well as church newsheets. It
links to a variety of external website providing a portal and it
carries a number of capabilities (the street index covering Shilton
Park, an A-Z index, Out & About with tourist and other attractions,
and an online diary). The website is run on a voluntary basis and
we are constantly looking for new sources of information. Finally,
the site gets a good deal of traffic through the major search
engines."

two clear aims: to revitalise rural communities and to encourage
women to become more involved in producing food during the First
World War. Since then our aims have broadened and we are now the
largest women’s organisation in the UK. We celebrated our 90th
anniversary in 2005 and currently have 205,000 members in 6,500 WIs.
